Dear visitor,

5^th NEEBOR Annual Conference with the main theme „Innovations in context of Eastern External Border Regions“ took place in Dukla Hotel, Prešov, Slovakia from 7^th to 10^th of September 2010.

The Conference was organised by the Regional Development Agency of the Prešov self-governing region together with Prešov self-governing region and University of Prešov and was co-financed by European Regional Development Fund in the frame of INTERREG 4C Programme.

Over 100 participants from 8 countries of Eastern EU border and Ukraine attended the event. We are pleased that Mr. Olivier Brunet from DG Research, European Commission, also accepted the invitation to the Conference and in the end of the event the Declaration on Innovations as one of the main outcomes of the Conference was formally presented and handed to him.

Two-day programme of the event was filled with five thematic blocks concerning innovations in the context of European policies, regions, universities and regional actors from the area of private sector.

Other important theme of the Conference was adopting of standing orders and new rules for further existence of the NEEBOR network.

Parallel to the second day of the Conference Universities round table took place at the rectorate of University of Prešov. Event for universities from Eastern EU border held under the auspices of rector of University of Prešov was aimed on joint degrees, creation of research consortiums and applied research.

Two important outcomes of the Conference were adopted at the end of the event – Declaration on Innovation for regions at the EU Eastern external border and Declaration on future cooperation of the Network of Eastern External Border Regions.
